Guglielmo Niccolò Piozzi is an Italian general and colorectal surgeon specializing in minimally invasive and robotic approaches to colorectal cancer. He graduated with top honors from Vita-Salute San Raffaele University (Milan, Italy), and completed his residency in general surgery at the University of Milan. His international training includes a clinical fellowship at Korea University Anam Hospital in Seoul under the mentorship of Professor Seon Hahn Kim, where he gained advanced expertise in robotic colorectal surgery.

Dr. Piozzi currently serves as a Clinical Research Fellow at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust and holds an Honorary Clinical Academic Fellowship at the University of Portsmouth. In 2023, he was awarded the prestigious International Career Development Exchange Program by ESSO-SSO, which enabled him to further his training in advanced single port robotics in the United States under Professor John Marks at Lankenau Medical Center in Philadelphia.
A core member of Portsmouth Colorectal, Dr. Piozzi plays an active role in organizing and delivering multi-platform robotic training programs. He is also a key contributor to the Portsmouth Colorectal Congress (PCC)—now recognized as one of the most significant events in robotic and minimally invasive colorectal surgery in Europe. Deeply invested in the advancement of robotic and MIS technology, he serves as Principal Investigator for all colorectal surgery trials at Portsmouth.
An enthusiastic academic, Dr. Piozzi has authored over 94 peer-reviewed publications, with a particular focus on robotic surgery, colorectal cancer, surgical techniques, and anatomy. He currently holds an H-index of 17, reflecting the impact of his research. He sits on the editorial boards of several leading journals, including Journal of Robotic Surgery, Annals of Surgical Oncology, International Journal of Colorectal Disease, and SN Comprehensive Clinical Medicine. A full member of Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Honor Society, he exemplifies a strong commitment to surgical innovation and academic excellence.
Dr. Piozzi is happily married and a proud father to a young daughter. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys spending time with his family, exploring history, and discovering the world.
