Dr. Pedro Brandão, M.D., FACS, is a consultant colorectal surgeon at Hospital Universitário de Santo António in Porto, Portugal. He is a PhD candidate at the University of Porto, with a thesis focusing on metabolic alterations in rectal cancer.

The major focus of his practice is benign and malignant colorectal pathology, with a particular interest in minimally invasive approaches, both laparoscopic and robotic. He was one of the earliest adopters of the Hugo™ RAS platform in Portugal and in Europe, having accumulated over three years of experience on the system. He is a co-author of the COLOROBOT IBERICA multicentre study — the largest published cohort of Hugo™ RAS colorectal procedures — a panellist in the European Delphi consensus on training, implementation, and clinical use of the Hugo™ RAS platform in colorectal surgery, and currently serves as a proctor for Medtronic on the Hugo™ RAS system.

He is an Invited Professor at ICBAS – School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, University of Porto, and Director of LABTEC, the Laboratory of Surgical and Endoscopic Techniques at ICBAS–Santo António, where he runs cadaveric and animal model courses in surgical technique for postgraduate trainees, residents, and fellows.
